Rommel Padilla - Proud of Son Daniel Padilla's Showbiz Accomplishments

Daniel Padilla

Rommel Padilla admitted that he is proud of the growing success in showbiz of his son Daniel Padilla. Not only hit in  Primetime Bida series Princess and I, Daniel is also one of Star Record’s newest recording artist who launched his album Hinahanap-Hanap Kita during a grand fans day earlier this June.

In an interview with Push.com.ph, Rommel speaks about his son.

“Nung Father’s Day, wala naman special plans. It’s just like any normal day din. Nagkita, kakain, jamming. I’m actually very proud and happy kami ng kanyang mama sa kanya. Sobrang ligaya andsobrang blessed kami. Pero natutuwa ako dahil manang mana sa ina niya (laughs). Gulat rin kami siyempre pero masayang-masaya,” he told.

Rommel said he was surprised by his son’s fast-rising popularity. “Hindi naming na-expect eh. Shocked kami buong pamilya. Talagang lahat yungblessing na yun nag-align dun sa mga ninuno. Siyempre anak namin yan so siyempre iba yung feeling.Masayang masaya ako kasi sa sobrang ganda ng ina, nagkaroon ng guwapong anak ‘di ba? Gawa sa pagmamahal,” he said.

The former action star said he and Daniel have a close relationship with each other that hasn’t changed despite his son’s busy taping schedule. “Close kami, very open naman yang batang yan pag may problema. Sinasabi agad. At yung mommy naman niya is very supportive. Ngayong nag-showbiz siya, napansin ko nag-maturebigla. Dati parang totoy totoy ngayon talagang seryoso na, parang matanda bigla kausap,” he added.

When it comes to his son’s personal life, Rommel admits that Daniel is a true romantic. The loving dad said, “Matinik lang siya magmahal (laughs),” he said. Rommel said he has yet to meet his son’s love team partner Kathryn Bernardo. “Hindi pa kami nagkakroon ng pagkakataon magkakilala ng personal pero every timenaman na sumasaya ito o nalulungkot, laging si Kathryn naman ang dahilan,” he admitted.

Rommel shared that his son feels very strongly about his pretty Princess and I co-star. “Alam niyo one time nga nung na-hospital siya laging yung mommy lang niya nag-aayos. Pero nung second time, tumawag na sa akin siKarla (Estrada, Daniel’s mom). Sabi niya puntahan ko sa ospital so siyempre nag-worry ako dun kasi kung ano ba nangyari. Sabi sa akin ng nanay niya, ‘Sumama yata loob kay Kathryn (laughs)’ Hindi na naman makahinga (laughs),” he said.

Rommel also shared the advice he gave Daniel now that he is in the limelight. “Yung lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya na kung ano man ang marating niya, dapat ang paa niya nasa lupa, nakasayad. At huwag niyang kakalimutan magpasalamat sa Panginoong Diyos at sa mga taong sumusuporta sa kanya especially pamilya at yung mga fans niya at of course ang network. At yung panatiliin lang niya yung pagiging mabuting anak. We love you anak,” he said.

Noli De Castro
Multi-awarded broadcast journalist Kabayan Noli de Castro's public affairs program “Kabayan” won a Bronze World Medal in the Best Public Affairs Program category at the prestigious 2012 New York Festivals (NYF) International Radio Program & Promotion Awards.

Kabayan is the only Philippine radio program included in this year’s edition of the International Radio Program & Promotions Awards of the NYF. This DZMM radio program was honored for its coverage of the plight of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) caught in the recent conflict in Syria last January.
Kabayan
He also added that the recognition from the international award-giving body highlights the significance of helping OFWs who suffer and are in danger.

“The painful truth is that many Filipinos work overseas to provide for their families. But we at DZMM will continue to protect the welfare of our modern day heroes,” he said.

“Kabayan” served as the link between the Department of Foreign Affairs and OFWs living in different parts of Syria, including OFW Gande Das whom Kabayan would talk to on air everyday to calm her down after she threatened to jump off her employer’s building so she could escape and come back to the Philippines. The Philippine embassy in Damascus had already repatriated Das and other OFWs.

For 53 years, the NYF International Radio Program & Promotion Awards has given honors to outstanding radio programs in all lengths and formats from radio stations, networks and independent producers from around the globe.

“Kabayan” is aired on Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Ch 26) on weekdays at 6 a.m.

Floyd Mayweather - 2012 Forbes Highest Paid Athlete

Floyd Mayweather

Forbes has released its list of the 100 highest paid athletes, and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., nicknamed "Money," is No. 1.

Mayweather has passed Tiger Woods as the highest-paid athlete of the year, the first time since 2001 that Woods hasn't had the Forbes.com distinction.

Mayweather, who made $85 million for two fights last year, is currently serving a three-month jail sentence in Las Vegas for domestic battery.

Boxer Manny Pacquiao is second on the magazine's list at $62 million from earnings and endorsements. Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title to Timothy Bradley earlier this month.

Kristen Stewart - 2012 Forbes Highest Paid Actress

Kristen Stewart

A 22-year Twilight star Kristen Stewart raked in $34.5 million between May 2011 and May 2012, earning her the top spot on Forbes's list of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood.

Largely thanks to the $12.5 million (plus a share of the profits) she received for each of the two-part The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn films, Stewart dethroned reigning queens Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker, who last year shared the crown with an estimated $30 million each. The two women dropped to numbers four ($20 million) and seven ($15 million), respectively.

And it's a safe bet to say that she will have a place on the list next year as well. The fifth and final installment in the Twilight film series, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, comes out in November.

Rounding out the top three were Cameron Diaz, 39, who had a banner year thanks in part to Bad Teacher, and Sandra Bullock, 47 – who, according to Forbes, is still collecting from her Oscar-winning turn in 2009's The Blind Side.

Other actresses in the Top 10 include Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Candice Adea - Champion in Ballet Competition

Candice Adea

Candice Adea won First Prize, Senior Women’s Division at the recently concluded Helsinki International Ballet Competition, one of the most prestigious ballet competitions in the world. The competition drew 69 dancers from 28 countries, including USA, China, Japan, Finland, Canada, Italy and Cuba, among others.

Adea said she feels “very happy and really honored to be able to wave our Philippine flag in Helsinki, Finland… and, of course, really thankful to all the people who never get tired of supporting and praying for us… our family, Ballet Philippines, Philippine High School for the Arts, our ballet teachers, co-dancers, the Filipino community all over the world especially in Helsinki, Finland and the Philippine Embassy in Finland.”

Candice Adea, Ballet Philippines’ principal dancer, is the most successful Filipina in international ballet competitions, with the most wins and special prizes. She is the first Filipino to be awarded First Prize in a top tier international ballet competition (composed of competitions in Varna, Bulgaria; Jackson, MI, USA; and Moscow, Russia), and joins the list of Filipino ballet dancers who have received international recognition.

Adea’s win caps her illustrious career—in 2010 she won the Silver Medal at the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, MI, touted as the Olympics of ballet. In 2011, she won special awards at the Boston International Ballet Competition (the Maris Liepa Award for Artistry) and the Third Prize at the Seoul International Dance Competition. With Cordero, she also won the Lead Role in a Russian Ballet Performance in Boston.

Adea's partner and fellow Ballet Philippines principal dancer Jean Marc Cordero was also a  semi-finalist in the competition. He won a Special Jury Award for Best in Pas de Deux Technique (partnering).

As in all their previous competitions, Victor Ursabia, Ballet Philippines’ ballet master and CCP Dance School Director, stood as the pair’s coach and mentor.
